You Only Need One Job
From Alan Schonberg's book, "Headhunters Confidential"
(Alan is the founder of MRI)
Prepare yourself for several interviews, and factor in the possibility of rejection. Then believe in yourself, understanding you don't need a job offer with every interview. You only need one offer because you only need one job. Get it, and your mission is accomplished.
When it's all said and done, a score of prospective employers could pass on you (or you could pass on them). When somebody makes an offer too good to pass up, then your job search is over.
Eventually, everyone gets an offer. Look around you. Opportunities are everywhere. Eventually one will knock, and you'll answer.
I can recall hundreds of times when a job candidate was devastated after being turned down, only to get a better offer at the next interview. This happens so frequently, I sometimes tell candidates to look at rejection as "a blessing in disguise." I tell them, "Something better will come along, and someday you'll wonder why you even considered this position in the first place." It's amazing how often things turn out this way.
